Final Reflection
LLSS 443 Children's Literature Spring 2010

Done!

Well I feel that the second eight weeks has gone by just as fast as the first eight weeks! Fast and Furious! The second eight weeks we have focused on our websites, our book list, and genres. I feel that I have learned a lot about genres over the past few weeks. I had forgotten how many different genres there are out there! I focused on Folklore and I didn't realize that it was such a broad genre. I thought it was a really good idea to have each one of us take a genre and talk about it to the class. I liked seeing and hearing the different examples of each genre too. By doing my book list and reading books from each genre, I think I will be able to remember how to classify the books that I read. Everytime I read a book I will probably ask my self, "What genre is this book?" I can honestly say that I have never read so many books, in such a short amount of time, in my life!  Building a website has become easier for me. I have built websites for Linguistically Diverse and my digital portfolio. Something that I learned how to do was add links to other websites. I probably learned how to do that a long time ago but this time I understand the process. I really enjoyed Connie Gotch. I liked the way she explained the hero's journey step by step. I feel that I could take the process of the hero's journey and become a better writer, and now I will be able to share that with my future students. This is officially my last class of the semester and I will become a student teacher in the fall! I am so excited! It has taken me a long time to get to this point! However, I would not change the path that I traveled because the things that I have gone through and done has helped me realize that I want to become a great teacher. Going back to school has been a great challenge for me. It was a lot easier going to school when I was younger and single. When I decided to go back to school to finish my elementary education I was a wife and a mom. So having a husband, a child, and a household to take care of caused me to have a lot of sleepless nights. Then I had a baby so these last two semesters have been really challenging. As I said before, I wouldn't change a thing. Bottom Line? I DID IT! I have made it through my classes and I will succeed in finishing my student teaching. I will be a graduate of 2010!
